This policy describes what Pingr actually does, not what a template says. Where something is a deliberate engineering choice rather than a promise, it says so.

No accounts, no database

Pingr has no sign-up, no login and no user database. There is nothing to create an account with and nothing that persists between visits. That is an architectural fact — the service runs without a database at all — not a policy that could quietly change.

Your test history is not stored

The hostnames, addresses and URLs you test are not written to any permanent record. They exist in memory for the few seconds a test takes and are then gone. Results are not saved, not indexed and not retrievable — by you, by us, or by anyone with a subpoena, because there is nothing to retrieve.

What is logged

The service writes an operational log line per request containing: which tool ran, an outcome class (for example “reachable”, “no reply”, “blocked destination”), how long it took, whether a rate limit was involved, and whether the target was a hostname or an IP address. It does not contain the target itself.

This is enforced in the code rather than by discipline: the logging type has no field capable of holding a target. Raw targets can only be logged by switching the service to debug level, which is off by default and would only be used briefly during an active abuse investigation. The automated acceptance test that runs before every deploy drives the API with known targets and fails the build if any of them appears in the log.

Your IP address

Rate limiting needs to know who is asking, so your address is held in memory to count requests against. It is not written to the log and not stored anywhere on disk. The counters are discarded when they go idle and are lost entirely when the service restarts.

Verification challenges

If you hit a rate limit you may be asked to complete a Cloudflare Turnstile challenge. On success the server hands your browser a short signed string that says “this address passed a check” and expires after 30 minutes. It is held in your browser’s memory only — not a cookie, not local storage — so it disappears when you close the tab. Nothing about it is stored on our side; the server verifies it by re-computing a signature. Turnstile is operated by Cloudflare under their privacy policy.

Analytics

Pingr uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and does not fingerprint visitors. Alongside it, product events are recorded — which tool was used, whether it succeeded, which follow-up link was clicked. The value you typed is never included in an event. There is no advertising network, no tracking pixel and no third-party script beyond the analytics beacon and, when a challenge is shown, Turnstile.

The Internet Ping Test

That test runs entirely in your browser against a Cloudflare edge endpoint that echoes messages back. The echo endpoint keeps nothing. Your results are computed on your device and are gone when you leave the page.

Requests Pingr makes on your behalf

When you test a website, Pingr fetches it from our server. That site’s operator will see a request from our address identified as PingrBot/1.0 — not from you, and with nothing about you in it. Your address is not forwarded and no header identifies you.

Cloudflare

Pingr is served through Cloudflare, which processes requests as part of delivering the site and protecting it from attack. Their handling of that traffic is governed by their own privacy policy.

Children

Pingr is a technical utility and is not directed at children under 13.
